Tbh I think number 2 is partially true. I think the idea of demisexual is a very common thing, even among people that wouldnt call themselves that.
I had to explain to thousands of people today that women can and do have casual sex, feel physical attraction to men they don't know, and don't always need a romantic connect ion to have sex. There are also lots of demisexual men.

Maybe the real difference is between how fast people are able to create/experience a strong emotional connection? As a psychologist my occupation is to form those in a clinical setting, so I know it is possible to speed it up?
