I think I'm trying to say that I'm very grateful to be so close to the most complex life forms that we know of in the universe. We often forget that we have the richest wealth of life on our doorstep while we cream over bacteria fossils on other planets.
From an alien's perspective Insects are probably a rare and crazy revelation. I don't need to come from another planet to notice how incredible it is that they exist. My proximity to them doesn't devalue them in my eyes.
When you put it that way I see what you mean and that's actually pretty inspiring.
