I'm not saying we shouldn't joke about our tourette's or our swearing tics, but we need to be careful we don't perpetuate stigma while we do it. Unfortunately, our jokes don't exist in a vacuum.
I show my tourette's openly without shame in the hopes of encouraging others to accept their own differences. The last thing I want is to stigmatize anyone. The first hour of my streams are dedicated to a Q and A so that people can ask about my condition.
We have also steady been creating an environment in my discord server which is inclusive and supportive of people with tourrete's or other tic disorders. Enabling them to interact safely and receive a lot of love and support. There are now over 21,000 people there.
I'm doing my best to reduce the stigma, and I have really enjoyed your tweets @twitchyspoonie, I have shared your tweets because I love how you have explained things for people who might not understand. I honestly believe we have the same goal but different approaches.
