I'm sceptical though since you could easily fix all videos without HDR, just give us more bitrate. Super dark videos can look great on 8 Bit too.

Bitrate and compression are major reasons yt can store the zillions of videos. I'm really skeptical if they would give every run of the mill video more bits. HDR is better because not everyone will upload HDR.
