New foreign player rules in Turkey... absolute disaster. Didn't work last time, won't work this time... shambles 🤦♂️
2020/21: 14 foreign (8 on field)
2021/22: 12 foreign (7 on field)
2022/23: 10 foreign (6 on field)

To put it simply a Turkish player who was earning £20k-a-week will earn £40k-a-week overnight...
Simply supply and demand. There are not enough quality Turkish players to go around so the available ones become more valuable

Turkish players will be paid above their actual market value. European clubs will offer them less than they are paid in Turkey so what actually happens is they block the path for Turkish talent. With no incentive to develop the quality of player in the league drops

Absolute neanderthal thinking by the Turkish FA. Turkey were reaping the benefits of their players developing in some of the top leagues. Instead now, players will rightfully fill their pockets while playing away at Giresunspor instead of gracing the Nou Camp or Old Trafford etc.
A disease of thought that they can’t shake. Rubbish and really misses the core problems Turkish football has. I won’t be watching in years time and hope bein leave them dry too
I think it’s definitely understandable. The foreign “stars” coming to the Süper Lig are mainly 30+ year old chronically injured players, who leave the country in a bad way after months of no payments.
Just a couple out of hundreds transfers turn out to be good.

We had the same in Ukraine 2011-2015, the Ukrainian passport owners (not only Ukrainians, but passport owners) were overestimated and didn’t want to progress.
