    I love elections. They are, in a way, magic. Pure alchemy happens as a mass of millions of people making subtle independent decisions coalesce into an outcome. Gold out of some base elements. I wrote this at the end of the 2016 election campaign.

    She was dead right. I’ve read their manifesto. It’s a mess. The Transport Section is in the Climate Action Chapter, but 53% of the Transport policies are roads or road projects.

    If is serious about Data Protection then he is signalling the end of adequacy status in the EU. It's basically the end of data transfer in, well, everything really. Does he have the faintest idea what he is threatening here?

    UK will restore full sovereignty over whole bunch of things we knew before but also, Boris Johnson says, over Data Protection rules. Big hint there.

    The last 9 years was how they thought government should behave. That’s why they didn’t see it coming. Nobody in the Cowan government thought they went to the country with anything but smithereens to offer. FG went to the country with a plan to do a victory lap.

    But basic issue is that FF were damaged by failing to govern according to their supporter’s expectations whereas FG have faced dropping to third place as a result of governing exactly as they thought the country ought to be run.
