They need to have an avenue to cleanse their records over time. That's a huge incentive, a chance to earn a real blank slate.

We have to end private for-profit prisons

Gives them a chance they maybe never had after paying their dues for the wrongs they had a part in. They earned that chance to become human in eyes who see them as castaway uselessness. They never were & with this they can feel it.

Gabbard, you have the platform to speak out against this sham of a system. You know what's at stake if you or somebody with a voice, doesn't. You will have more support than you will experience in dissent. Our Constitution doesn't exist. This country has become a Corporotocracy.

I think we need to stop imprisoning non-violent crimes. A lot of ladies are just in for prostitution a non-violent crime. I'm from CA of all places & they have these ladies fighting fires. Non-violent prisoners shouldn't risk their lives in forced prison labor.

Thank you Congresswoman. You are a true #Warrior for social justice - far and beyond beautiful Hawaii (that is now dealing some potential catastrophic geographical events). I wish you and the people well. The systemic and racial effects of incarceration is at a crisis level.

Hawaii sends 60% of their prison population to private for-profit prisons in Arizona. Time for Hawaii to set an example and start real reform and helping people rather than locking them up and sending them off to Arizona to save money.

What would it be costing if there were no private prisons and jails? I just heard on the news either Houston or Harris County jails are full up and they are paying big time to send prisoners to other places, other states even I think!

Question why this administration is attacking the media. Question why your #Republican colleagues are acting unpatriotic. Are they working for another country?

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time! Stop pandering to criminals!
