We must ensure universal healthcare through #MedicareForAll and empower the government to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to bring down the price of prescription drugs.

Would you not agree that part of the issue of RX drugs being so high is the amount of testing the FDA requires? This in part could be partially eliminated if they have passed screening through the EU.

In 2013, Forbes said that it cost $5 billion to test new drugs before the FDA allows them to go to market. They also have to do this on drugs already approved by the EU. https://www.forbes.com/sites/matthewherper/2013/08/11/how-the-staggering-cost-of-inventing-new-drugs-is-shaping-the-future-of-medicine/#3b1c226513c3 …

The government can't bring prices down. Only open market pricing and competition can do that.

There is currently a young man in Florida, a hero in the Parkland shooting, who has to resort to Gofundme to pay his approx. $1M in medical bills, and climbing. Medicareforall will address this problem. It's not bad enough he got shot? Now he's gotta' go bankrupt as well?

Tulsi, you are the lone democrat I find that has authentic integrity. We met on the SFO tram w/ your hubby on way to rental car station. My great awakening came thru an entrepreneurial idea in 2005. High taxes kills entrepreneurial dreams. CO-OP Health plans is an option.

Big pharma lobbies big government for favor, so it's a good idea to make big government the negotiating and payment vehicle force for big pharma? 🤔

Our Medical System has too many layers. Insurance Companies, PBM’s, etc, each taking their profits driving up the cost of healthcare. Everyone’s hands are in the pot, not just the Pharma Companies.

and we must stop the madness that has evolved from using the ICD & other medical coding systems for billing, the battle between revenue maximization specialists & Medicare/private insurers has created an insanely dysfunctional & inefficient system

That is one side of the equation, but what will be done on the medical institutions as they continue to raise their prices without restraint. This could end in socialized industry. There are no easy answers. I am not writing this to knock Ms. Gabbard, simply pondering

No. It's one thing to being committed to a specific result (all Americans with quality health care). But when you're considering a particular path, there's no "must" about it, in a democracy.

Agreed, but how about enacting legislation TELLING Big Pharma the prices rather than negotiating with them? If we're going to have a Commerce Clause that can regulate the pot plant growing in Rachel Raich's backyard in Oakland, we can regulate drug prices.
