What if the work they’re doing does not produce enough to justify that wage? Are you depriving them the right to work for the amount their skills and situation allow? The economy and society also miss out on what services/products they could provide.

I'm not a fan of the min wage, but how do prices rise when businesses have to compete with each other? There's plenty of room in their profit margins to do this considering wages have been stagnant in the face of rising productivity for decades.

We did that in Seattle. Cost of living went up with the minimum wage. People started losing jobs, or getting their hours slashed because businesses couldnt afford to pay their workers. This impacted small businesses the most. Imo, $12 min wage is good. People can earn the raise.

I agree we need to figure out cost of living, but raising the min wage to a point it puts businesses in jeopardy, isnt going to help. You'll just see more jobless people in their 20's. The problem lies w/ greed, and wanting $1.7k a mnth for 800 sqft 1 bedroom apt. That is absurd.

Can you also start caping the amount of properties foreigners can ourchase in Hawaii? I do t think its ok that Hawaii is so expensive due to so many wrong real estate rules. You have 4 generations having to live in one house. Protect the land, protect the locals, ..

We need a living wage especially in the dark blue state, which I am a resident of. The thought of $15 in 2020 or 2024 is not good enough. I know this is a hard fought battle for just $15, but that is just a band aid over the massive wound of our pay inequality.pic.twitter.com/Sn7PhjTrBI

Minimum wage should always be whatever a living wage is because if you aren't making a living wage you aren't truly employed you are being kept as a subject as a debt slave because you obviously aren't being paid enough to sustain life itself which is purposefully demoralizing.

Lower unit wage costs will be the new normal really soon. All minimum wage laws are part of the reason so many jobs get off shored. So let's become more uncompetitive?

While I agree that the federal minimum wage should be raised, it should be to a living wage and then legislated to tie in with the rate of inflation. Many states can not live with a $15 wage, many even with a $25 an hour wage. Also universal basic income should be considered.

No we don't. Entry level jobs are not meant to be career paths. They are meant to be a step on the way to making a better life for yourself.

I like you Tulsi. You have some good ideas but this is not one of them. You are guaranteed to increase the unemployment rate for this group you want to help. Those who keep their job may benefit but you will increase the number of unemployed in your state.
