I introduced a bill with a simple solution: the Securing America’s Elections Act (HR5147) would mandate paper ballots/paper ballot backups for Federal elections across the country to ensure there is an audible voter-verified paper record, to protect the integrity of our elections

14 states, including Hawaii, already use voter-verified paper ballots or paper ballot back-ups. But as DEFCON 2017 hackers have tested & proven, many current elections systems are easily hackable. We need to pass HR5147 now to protect the integrity of 2018 elections and beyond.

With all the electoral skullduggery that went on in the primaries, foreign hacking is the least of the issues. Establishment hacking was far more harmful.

So it will guard against that, too. Lot's of progressives r running

"Voter-verified paper ballot/paper back-ups are a commonsense way to hack-proof our elections." < This sounds great, would be amazing if there were an online database of election results where you could check your own vote personally! < Where all the numbers HAVE TO jibe!
-
Super secure, password protected yada. If we can secure online purchases i think we can secure elections! Paper backup sounds good too tho.

Yup, it is difficult to “hack” the machines, because they aren’t connected to the Internet, but, it is possible to instal malware or tamper with them. It only takes one careless, or corrupt, election official. Paper ballots are better
-
There was a great documentary showing how in CA the machines are delivered to volunteers houses the night before the primary and aren't even locked. They have them ALL night in their homes!

What we need are PUBLICLY
#HandCountedPaperBallots! The method is quite simple and costs almost nothing. Here’s how it’s already used in a New Hampshire county.. https://youtu.be/vEa8LmNrRFI#ProtectOurVotes -
Or just count them on an immutable blockchain.

Media & the American people are just going to have to learn to be patient for the counting & verification of ballots from every State. Quite frankly, I am annoyed with every TV station clamoring to be the "first to call" projected winners. Let them get the results when we do.

As a veteran of eight political campaigns in Canada (now living on Oahu), I can confidently state that paper ballots - counted in the presence of scrutineers from the different sides - is vastly superior in terms of security. The systems in most American states are bananas.
-
In most American states, they aren't even elections.

if every single democrat doesn't support this, it proves that their Russian scare is just a political tool and has nothing to do with their concern for election integrity

WA votes by mail. A lovely paper trail is a necessity in these dark woods.
#paperballots -
Only problem is making sure the votes by mail are actually counted. California trial shown that they are cherry picked to control winner.
