Agreed Congresswoman Gabbard. The USG has absolutely no credibility when it comes to negotiating with regimes for change. None.

Yes. In Libya, under a UN resolution we "protected civilians" by ignoring peace proposals, providing air support for rebels until they chased Gaddafi to his hometown and literally, extrajudicially shoved a sword up his *ss. Let's get back to being the "city on the hill"

POTUS is not advocating regime change. He's advocating "America First" which is an approach much closer to live-and-let-live than regime change. If NoKo is observant (an open question), they'll get interested in what it will take to keep the US away. (Hint: not much.)

You're right, it's not taking much to keep the US away. As soon as a country has a few nukes and missle systems capable of transporting them to the US, the US won't dare to bomb that country. It's that easy.

We need to accept that not ever country on earth has the same interests as we do. Trade and diplomacy, not threats and posturing, are the best tools to turn North Korea from a mortal enemy into a potential friend.

It doesn’t predate US global interventionism in general and the Bush Administration established full diplomatic relations with Libya in 2006. And I don’t think you need to be told how the Libyan Civil War started.

Without doubt, previous Administrations have treated Iraq, Libya & Syria most shabbily. And earned global distrust for the U.S. The track record makes it difficult for foreign policy going forward. To atone & mend.
