Any negotiations need to be handled with a great deal of thought and sensitivity and a willingness to listen to the other party. I don't see Trump as able to fulfil this role.

The reason the US and the Soviets got to a nuclear stare down was weakness shown by JFK when he met with Khrushchev.JFK wanted to gain through empathy so he suggested both countries we're equally matched.This wasn't true, at the time the US had superior capabilities.

This is similar to the current confrontation with north Korea. US is superior but leadership in NK is unpredictable and shows willingness to use nuclear arsenal. Weakness and appeasement haven't work & neither has strategy of kixking the problem on to the next administration.

Just got through reading ‘Dereliction Of Duty’. Rolling Thunder was a failure, but not because of the pilots. My dad knew before he got over there that he would be flying with both hands tied behind his back. Never faltered, never flinched.
