I agree we need to do something about student loan debt. I joined the Army and they paid for my 4 yr degree. Nothing is free.
Nearly half of all Hawai'i graduates hold some form of student loan debt. These loans keeps people from buying homes, cars, starting families, and growing our economy. We need #CollegeForAll, tuition-free.

St. Olaf's University, got a scholarship 1932. but work for money to live on. Didn't get a dime from his parents. And in the1930s money was not easy to borrow. The difference I believe is he wanted the education bad enough.

College financial aid should also cover living expenses. When I went to college, I only worked summers. Financial aid was set up to discourage work in the school year. Now I teach college and nearly all my students work.

My Dad worked while attending school.( Most did and graduated too) success depends on commitment.

There's nothing wrong with working while going through college. But to pay for college in this day, it would mean having a job that pays extremely well. NO entry level job will pay that today.

I wrote up a program like that for Detroit! I just gave it to bunch of doers and the last I saw, the ideas were implemented! And the only credit I got was the knowledge that God gave me those ideas for his people and I unselfishly gave it where I thought it would do the most good
