I did not meet with President-elect Trump seeking a job, nor did he offer me one. I love the job I have, serving the people of Hawaiʻi.
Rather, I shared my concerns that escalating the war in Syria with a no fly/safe zone would be disastrous & could lead to a nuclear war.

It would have been easier for me to refuse this meeting. But I never have — and never will — play politics with American and Syrian lives.

I feel it is my duty to take every single opportunity I get to advocate for peace, no matter the circumstances of those meetings.
