I am proud to stand with the nearly 50k @UAW workers as they fight for fair wages and economic security. GM is enjoying record profits and it’s time they include workers in their prosperity #standwithUS #UAWStrike

GM hourly pay is $13 above industry averages and employees received a $10,000+ bonus from last year from profits. GM wants to keep the bonus system and not raise wages because of previous downturns where they had to let employees go because of high wages.

I fully support the right of the UAW to strike, but I think that their demands are a bit too high.

This is one of those topics I do disagree with. I believe in private businesses Rights the same as I believe in individual Rights. The only rule is that the employee/employer relationship must be voluntary. This coming from a person that grew up in a midwest steel mill town.

Yes Tulsi are they the same workers that make 63 dollars an hour? I wish I was that secure.

Do they actually make $63/hr? Or is that including benefits? Supposedly at the DOT we make $70/hr but that includes one year of family leave, pension, dental, medical, two personal vacations, etc. Two weeks of work is $1800, love the benefits but it doesn't pay the bills.

Of course they have the right to unionize, but safety rules by insurance companies are always more stringent. "Workers" don't have special rights, we all have the same by way of natural laws.

I have to say I'm very impressed by your push to reach the next debate after failing to qualify for the last one and by some of your campaign message. I became a new donor to help get you over the top and hope to see you smacking Warren around in the next debate

Unfortunately that’s not the result the sorry UAW gets. It’s about enrichment of union bosses, via a tax like wedge that results in lower take-home pay and fewer people hired or promoted, while inviting more premature automation. Labor demand curves still slope downward.

Please define fair wages. They should be thankful we bailed them out so they could keep their jobs. Every person is so thankful to get a job at GM. A year later they can’t shut up about how they’re getting screwed. The union brainwashes them. They make big $ for no skill.

Maybe it's a little odd to mention that it was the overly generous union wages and pension systems that made the company non-competitive and led to its bankruptcy 10 years ago. But whatever.

I understand that one of the major issues in the GM strike is "cost of health insurance." It's amazing that union members, who used to enjoy enviable benefit packages, are suffering like the rest of us, from America's broken healthcare/insurance system.

Did you forget that it was basically this type of practices that sent the auto industry into bankruptcy? They are already paying higher wages, than most companies. Why would anyone voluntarily give up their right to negotiate their salary individually. Performance doesn’t matter
