It's already illegal for someone convicted of domestic violence to buy or possess a firearm. The question is: why are convicted domestic abusers being let out of prison? Strengthen mandatory DV sentencing. 25 to life minimum.

My abuser used a gun. By sheer luck I managed to escape unharmed. He was arrested on assault w/ a deadly weapon, kidnapping & domestic battery. He got a plea deal & was released 3 weeks after his arrest. Keep them in prison!

If he was convicted, I think he should’ve been flagged if he purchased the gun legally. We need to punish the ones who are negligent in the sale of the weapons.

While it is Federal Law for Domestic Violence to be reported to NCIC There are serious jurisdictional reporting issues with getting those convictions to the FBI for inclusion in the database There needs to be reporting audits to ensure that the system is working as intended

Don’t fall into the
#GunGrabbing trap that@JoeBiden@SenSanders@ewarren@KamalaHarris@PeteButtigieg@BetoORourke have. Not all DEMs or Independents believe banning weapons will fix this. Your smart and rational. Stay moderate and you can secure this election#TULSI2020Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I definitely think it will take a combat veteran to have the clout/ ability to bring all the sides to the table to figure out a solution here.

What new law would stop him a person from illegally obtaining a gun? In DV cases if there are guns in the home they are removed by law enforcement & if the perpetrator legally owns the guns, the license is located/revoked right away.
-
it wont stop all but it will slow it down personally the only regulation i believe we need is a universal license

We don't need additional laws. We need to enforce the laws we already have. Why is this so hard for democrats to understand? Do "new laws" sell better? Is that why they never just demand existing laws be enforced? Why, Tulsi?
-
The laws clearly aren't working in this country. They work in every other country though.

It's not more gun laws that are needed. A return of the family is what we need. We need real education, not this indoctrination. We need less finger-wagging and more community action. We need less fear-mongering and more up-lifting.

Gun violence. Domestic abuse. School shootings. Endless war fed on the sale of bombs abroad & guns at home. Other than the victims, who can speak from the heart about American violence like a woman who has been a healing presence on the battlefield?
