That is really silly! Did he even commit any real crime? Or was he found in some random place in Afghanistan?

He was found in a random place in Afghanistan, fighting with a militia the CIA had helped set up. He's a fall guy

In what sense was John Lindh's release early? My understanding is that his release date was in accordance with the Bureau of Prisons' standard practices. What's wrong with that?
-
He pled guilty & received a 20 year sentence that ends in 2022. He was released 3 years early, based on "good behavior" etc.

Dear Tulsi, you have bigger fish to fry. Stick to stopping wars and go after those in power.

Believe me in today’s microscopic viewing of potential candidates even the small fish get fried up and eaten.

WTF?? You’d almost think her account was hijacked! But lacking that, we can see that underneath her claims of opposition to regime change wars is a thoughtless reactionary.

My theory - somebody is telling Gabbard to compensate for the Assad slander by looking "hard" on some other aspect of foreign policy. Not a game worth playing. Never play rigged games. Only chance of breaking out from the pack is a good narrative and differentiation.

Hopefully you'll see the ratio here and understand that this is a pretty unpopular point with your constituents. You were doing so well w/ Snowden

I agree with her. Those of us who have served know that the threat of terrorism is real. What we have to change is how we deal with it. Interventionist wars are not the right answer.

Hope is great but IMAGINE Rep. Gabbard as POTUS every day. Wake up and just imagine her in the oval office, on AF 1, giving an address, meeting heads of state, etc. , every day for a few minutes. Our imagination is the most powerful and creative force in the universe. Peace.

"...he met Osama bin Laden, was given a role as an al-Qaida terrorist..." Lindh wrote, "The Islamic State is clearly very sincere & serious about fulfilling the long-neglected religious obligation of establishing a caliphate through armed struggle..."https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2019/05/23/American-Taliban-John-Walker-Lindh-freed-after-17-years-in-prison/5771558572947/ …

His joining the Taliban pre-911 could be overlooked if he was repentant. To me it’s his doubling down on ISIS that is the issue.

The problem of condemning Mr Lindh, is that his only sin was going to Afghanistan to fight for the Taliban, not an enemy at that time. Within a few days of US Forces jumping on the Taliban, he was captured. Now, after 17 yrs, he's on parole. Any screw-ups and it's back to prison.

Well if he *actually* is still into al-Qaeda, then cut him loose and watch him to see who he contacts. After all, that's basically what they did with Osama bin Laden. Rather than, y'know, taking him to the Hague for trial like should have happened.
-
The US refuses to submit to the jurisdiction of the ICC. If it would, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and that whole gang of war criminals would be on trial first.
