ENTIRELY DISAGREE. Assange is an Australian citizen who is NOT entitled to Constitutional Protections INTENDED for U.S. citizens. Let him stand trial with a jury of his peers which is far more than he deserves given his abuses aided the horrible Trump Presidency mess.

The US Constitution doesn't grant rights to US citizens, it places limitations on the US government. People are already entitled to those rights; the government doesn't magnanimously bestow them upon some special group of people. https://twitter.com/Albert_PrinceC/status/1132028165042384897 …

How does Assange have free speech rights if he isn’t even a citizen of the United States? He’s a journalist from a foreign country. He had to go hide so he wasn’t caught. Now it’s all tears, because he got caught.
-
This is the problem, the US seems to think no one else has any rights and they have jurisdiction over the entire planet.

Not only do news orgs violate the Espionage Act every time they publish a “scoop” from leaked classified docs, so do their readers, who are violating the law merely by being “in receipt of” secret information they aren’t authorized to access. Scary huh?https://apple.news/A2sv20rBnSwmyeKNFf9Ldvg …

The Espionage Act makes no distinction between a leaker, a publisher, and a recipient of classified information. It criminalizes all of us. That’s why this draconian law should’ve been repealed 100 years ago.

Same here. I can’t vote for anyone who would put someone to death for publishing the truth.

Thank you so much Tulsi for speaking out in defense of Julian Assange and our Freedom of Speech! It’s extremely concerning that so many in govt have stayed silent and/or approved of this egregious action against our civil liberties. We love you!

I can't explain how I felt when he got arrested and later that day you spoke out for his freedom as a journalist, that's when you had me. Btw: to this day, has Sanders said something about Assange?
-
Bernie hasn't said Assange's name yet, but he did just tweet about freedom of the press.

As members of the News Media, we absolutely agree with Gabbard's take on this.

Thank you so much for being a voice for the people and for standing for freedom of press. It is an abomination that the war criminals are free, while the person who exposed their crimes is in jail.
