some countries do paper plus witnessed tally and verification with multiple community members ... super analog, but fair. tedious process. interesting idea, but can that scale in America?

We do paper ballots here in Virginia, and I understand it is done with no issues in other states as well.

Paper ballots are neccessary but insufficient. How paper is controlled & how votes are counted & reported also matter. Stuffing ballot boxes is made easier w/electronic systems that respond to machine-readable records that can be contrived, not necessarily reflecting reality. 1/2

My first reaction: Ok let's just give up, I mean, why bother? My second reaction: In Virginia they have had NO issues since instituting this same system.
