As a soldier who knows the horrible cost of war, I call on both sides in Venezuela to resolve their differences peacefully. We should always be ready to sit & speak with adversaries. Civil war in Venezuela will result in unimaginable suffering & undermine US national security.

Because US military involvement in Venezuela will not only increase tensions with Russia, but undermine our own efforts in diplomacy with other countries. For example, we cannot get North Korea to denuclearize because Kim Jong-un saw what we did to Libya.

As Did my father,Richard O. Morrison who survived 2 1/2 years of brutal captvity during the Korean War. He was held in a Chinese POW Camp at Pyoktong North Korea . He was captured at Kunu ri on Dec. 1 1950. He was releasedon April 20 1953!!

I will tell you as a daughter of a WW2 vet that men and women who fought that war would feel so betrayed by the US military today. Used to pry natural resources from weaker countries is not their purpose. It was called a Defense Force to be used as defense only.

My dad fought in the Italian campaign of ww2. He just recently passed away at 95. He said to me couple of years back, "Idk what those a**h***s in DC are doing. But this is not what i fought for nor left a brother on Normandy." Can't argue with that. He was appalled at these wars.
