Hey @ScottWFaya , I think Tulsi just showed her true pro-NATO, pro-US exceptionalism character. And that makes her pro-war.
It's my perception stopping F-35 sale is based on Turkey buying Russian military gear. Why is that not acceptable? A: bc Cold War must prevail. Thoughts?

OK, so let's all help continue the conversation by clarifying what a better & viable US foreign policy could/would look like & the US/world's publics, can/wuld endorse.

We shouldn't be in NATO at this point -- the Cold War ended decades ago. It's time to reassert the Washingtonian dictum to avoid foreign military entanglements. There should be no alliances whatsoever. All mediation and cooperation should be channeled exclusively through the U.N.

An overall discussion about NATO role and objectives is overdue. Current expansionism is out of control and at odd with what the average Westerner thinks and wants.

Am sure Russia would be happy to sell them new jets are well.. they prob can buy 2 Russian jet for the cost of every F35.. and Russia happy to see you push Turkey out of NATO more and more.. keep up the gd work...

There’s one point you’re missing. Russian sales don’t come with strings attached. You pay your money, you take your wares. No conditions, caveats or restrictions…

To put it mildly, Turkey or any other country is not there to represent US interests. Don't need to be a fan of Erdogan to say that we are in the 21st Century, what you are saying here resembles a total Colonial mentality. NATO here or there!

Turkey will continue to play its game of Russia-romancing NATO member as long as possible. Frankly, were I Erdogan, I'd just align completely w/Russia, but he seems to feel he can trust Washington. Could Saddam? Gaddafi? Noriega?
-
I don’t think Erdogan trust Washington. It’s that about keeping your enemies close...
