Tulsi, that is not true: solar and wind cannot supply the necessary base-load to power any major US city, certainly not anytime in the next 30 years. The scale required renders it impractical. But Hydro can, and its green. Who is advising you on Hydro?

Thorium! Safe nuclear power.

Renewable energy sources employ more people than coal oil and fracking combined. The only way to make coal clean is by leaving it in the ground.

I totally agree, but what about the elephant in the room
#NuclearEnergy.? It's a dangerous, ticking time bomb and even though there is no permanent solution for the waste, the U.S. keeps building new reactors. -
The waste is tiny and safely contained. compared to the coming solar panels and wind towers, also reactors last way longer

It’s not just costs. Wind and solar are horribly inefficient, and won’t keep up the demand to our modern electrical needs. What we really need is nuclear power

or vehicles on scale with our mass

This should be easy then: end all subsidies and wind and solar win in the open market.

Be sure to listen to this podcast on the subject: https://soundcloud.com/surely-youre-joking/michael-shellenberger … I'm more for smart nuclear now. Wind and solar have large environmental consequences when set up in a farm configuration.

Renewable and nuclear energy especially if scientists can master nuclear fusion are the best hope for the future of energy.

but you still need coal/gas/nuclear in case there isnt any wind, thats why its not cheap at all..

Looks great. But can someone explain to me why electric prices in Germany are soaring the more they switch to solar&wind? And isn't there still the matter of how to store the energy for when the wind/sun isn't blowing/shining? I wanna get on board with renewables but so many???
-
Because it’s not 2025 basically. Solar is currently more expensive but the price is plummeting as solar tech becomes cheaper to manufacture and more efficient. In most places the cost has dropped 40-50% in a few years.

Two words: cold fusion. Make it happen.

What’s your position on nuclear power? Sooner or later the materials for affordable solar cells is going to run out. Wind farms need a lot of open space. Just curious about your position on nuclear. Thanks ahead of time if you respond.

With all due respect, this is not a problem of costs, it is a question of human species survival.

We have known about climate change for longer than I've been alive (4 decades) Even republicans know that we need to invest in renewable energies. We can not just kick it down the hill anymore, We have to invest in new technologies, not for us but for for our kids and grandkids.
-
Old technologies would have been enough, if nuclear had been prioritized. Look at how well France is doing.. Their CO2 emissions have actually gone up as they added renewables.
