...A rational person would never defend cocaine prohibition, either. The laws prohibiting drugs started out as openly-racist, even though white middle-aged women were the number one group of opiate addicts in 1910. When the laws changed, most of them simply quit.

It is the fastest growing because it is now able to function outside of the black market. This goes to show that extreme levels of regulation hinder potential markets and the lack of freedom causes people to look to unsavory methods.
