These protections are needed. Only a few years ago, here in NJ, my sister was fired from her job because her boss found out about my sexual orientation. Discrimination still exists in employment, housing, even in fairly liberal states like mine. Thank you for raising your voice.

They are protected from certain things, like censorship and employment discrimination, but none of it is in the Constitution. It would be beneficial (and definitely wouldn't hurt) to add these protections to the Constitution.

Good points in thread about using existing federal statute, but my research indicates judges at the fed level are not consistently interpreting the word "sex" as orientation or identity. Federal court cases use Title 7 section 703. That should be amended rather than a new law.
