1/3 If the government can change the designation of @Wikileaks from being a news organization (Obama Admin’s designation of Wikileaks) to a hostile intelligence agency (Trump Admin’s designation), then…

Take a look at the text of the Espionage Act, especially the parts now at 18 USC 793. Key words: "pertaining to the national defense". When it was written, that meant military info, period, and decisions since back that up. Now tell me, was the 2016 election a military election?

An election whistleblower has been turned into a military traitor. Yes the magic you fear is real. DHS was supposed to warn at the time 6 USC 121 (d)(3)(B). Didn't.
#RealityWinner had to, five months too late. And DHS et al repeated that behavior 2018, and 2020 is coming. - 2 more replies

People...have given you too much of a free pass! Our culture accepts if something is a leak...it must be true...simply by virtue of people not wanting you to see it. Exploiting that to shape perception is unacceptable. Your free days are over!

Noble and admirable position, but journalists - like judges, juries, police, federal agents, and lawyers - cannot ethically use stolen workplace materials. I'm glad
#ChelseaManning bravely exposed them but she served time for it and understood why.#Hero -
So you feel that Daniel Elsberg, AND the New York Times should have been jailed? Of course those were different times. Back them, it wasn't thought "theft" to steal information From Criminals. We now protect Criminals and imprison Patriots. I hear you.

If I thought that Assange had gathered information as news, perhaps. but Assange made a clear sweep of information through hacking, and his intent was to do harm. It is his intent which is in question, and he undoubtedly stepped out of line to do great damage to US interests.

He coordinated his releases with Don Jr. and Roger Stone and purposefully executed one to limit damage to Trump from the Access Hollywood tape. He’s no more a champion of the free press than AMI’s David Pecker; rather he’s an abuser of that freedom.

Assange was forced to seek refuge in a London embassy to escape prosecution during Obama's presidency.

No, it is our system that is corrupt and sick. US always blames others for its own internal problems. Long, long history of that.
