New Yorker here: Glad my taxes aren't going to be thrown away on Amazon's bottom line. None of those jobs were going to go to people in NY; it would have just been more displacement and housing pressure, like SFO and PDX.

With this kind of economic stance, you are losing my support. In order to get tax revenues, you need to make investments and create incentives. NY just lost thousands of well paying jobs and billions in overall tax revenue.

How much tax did Amazon pay last year?

Wow. You’re just as dense as the SDA’s I guess. New York would gain about 400 million in payroll taxes every year. And Amazon would also be paying corporate taxes to the State and then eventually to the Feds as well.

And all those lost jobs? Yep, I’ll bet the folks in NYC appreciate that!

It’s a shame when people don’t see the forest through the trees. Let me explain. Taxpayers would be subsidizing a monster that does not support society. Add to that, amazon will bring in thousands of transplants to run their new facility and therefore drive up housing costs.

How is creating 25,000 jobs and investing 2 billion dollars in the area a bad thing?

Well, you see investing is immoral. You'd have to give a tax break for them to come, and it's far better to have no tax revenue at all. We need to spend the revenue we never collected on far more important things than people working, like giving businesses the middle finger.

I can’t wait until Amazon moves to a southern Right to Work State and takes all of those jobs and our housing markets and schools improvements. Just like Toyota Mazda plant, Airbus, Mercedes, BMW. Thank you anti-private business states, your jobs are amazing.
