Every time a president declares a "national emergency" in order to get his way on a particular issue, the closer we are to a dictatorship. Who needs Congress or the people if the president can make the decision on issues by himself? Very dangerous precedent.

Problem is, partisans only call out that behavior when the "other side" does it. Never when their own does.

The power of the presidency has been abused and increased since Andrew Jackson. This system is supposed to have checks and balances, but it seems to me that each branch would rather operate under their own parameters and completely ignore the constitution/Federalist Papers

This presidency serves as a great example of how the executive branch has been consolidating a massive overreach in its power over the course of the past 5 administrations. This isn’t a left vs.right problem, this is systemic corruption and why the Federalist Papers were written.

What's dangerous is a congress that refuses to do what's right because they don't like the president. Shameful!

You can’t blame the president for our congress being dysfunctional. Dems don’t care about anything except defying POTUS. GOP just talks a lot. It’s their job to protect us & they don’t. So he will.

Denying there is a crisis at the border after ever president since Clinton has said there is one is nothing but partisan politics. If Congress did it’s job there would be no need for a national emergency- but everyone is too busy campaigning for 2020 to fix it.

"...said there is one..." is the key here. I grew up in Texas, no emergency at the boarder ever.

Agree generally Representative; but it’s hardly something Trump invented. How many EOs did Obama sign to circumvent an opposite party Congress?

I think we’re already there. I don’t think the 2 party system helps. Each wants everything their own way with little compromise. No debates using facts & ideas. Just demands. At least you bring some diversity. Even if your running as a democrat.
