Why must college be attainable for all? That’s ridiculous, that’s the mentality that has our education system in its current state! #tradesareimprortanttoo

I agree trades are just as important but college should ABSOLUTELY be available for everybody that meets the requirements. The problem is society as a whole puts too much emphasis on having a degree as if learning a craft is beneath them. That’s what’s ridiculous!

1) government backed loans, without any underwriting to determine prospect of repayment, has allowed tuition to inflate alarmingly. 2) the idea that everyone should go to college makes no sense given the great opportunities in the trades for many individuals.
-
3) outrageous that loans can’t be discharged in bankruptcy. Removes any incentive to correctly underwrite and gauge ability to pay. Ruins young people’s futures. 4) universities should have skin in game. Claw back tuition for students defaulting on loans. Will control tuition.

I agree that college should be much more affordable; however, kids should also be taught to think critically about whether or not they need college. Most jobs in tech don't require a degree. Other trades can be learned through trade schools.

College is not for everyone or every situation and I think it's about time we stop trying to push every student into college.

Government guaranteeing loans is what caused prices to increase because the school can then gouge prices. This system creates indoctrinated debt slaves. I'm with you on foreign policy
@TulsiGabbard but you have got to get away from leftist economic policies. They don't work

Tuition is absurdly high thanks to artificially low interest rates from the Fed and gov. loans that distort price discovery. This misallocates resources and destroys the value of a college degree. The answer is far LESS "investment" by government. You've done enough damage.

Economics! It's refreshing to see people who actually understand it. Carry on, good sir

Going to be like the housing market in 08... They going to try to collect on people making 8 bucks an hour with 5 graduate degrees and BOOM, 08 all over again.

That doesn't look like it's gotten worse...it looks like it's continued to grow at the same pace as during previous presidencies. Also, we need to put more scrutiny on colleges, raising prices because they know that it's going to be federally subsidized.

Every college in America needs a forensic audit.

Don’t take a loan you can’t pay back. Taking on 200k in debt for a music theory degree isn’t getting you paid. Go get a skill.

No! Easy access to government money is what causes education costs to skyrocket.

The government backs all student loans by lenders. That's the issue. After 2008, gov't found another way to swindle the next generation - charging high interest rate loans for college. Degrees that won't have same ROI as tuition Colleges are enriched, students are debt ridden

An almost linear line from 2007-2018 shows that
@realDonaldTrump made things worse when he took office in 2017 -
Ah, but you forget Donald Trump effectively became president in waiting on February 5, 2013. The day he learnt to tweet by himselfhttps://www.politico.com/story/2018/12/20/oh-no-the-day-trump-learned-to-tweet-1070789 …
