Whether Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Jewish, atheist, agnostic, or anything else, we must stand united in our commitment to protect religious freedom and the right to worship or not worship, safely and without fear of retribution.https://bit.ly/2H3uCj1

There isn't a problem w/ Christian religious freedom in this country at least. Government officials should not be considering religion in their decisions that impact the masses though.

Thaaank you! Bloody hell, it is so telling that the Christian right would argue for "religious freedom" since they failed to ban same-sex marriage, isn't it? They try to force their religious views on others, then they suddenly worry about their freedom? What hypocrites!

And considering your own views on Islam and campaign against same-sex marriage, this statement seems highly hypocritical. If you're going to insist cite Islam when talking about "the enemy" or discriminate based on your own religion, you've got no business being in politics.

True. Both freedom of religion and freedom from religion are fundamental rights under our Constitution!

Actually there is no freedom FROM religion guaranteed in the Constitution. Only guarantee is gov’t can’t establish a certain religion or prevent the practice of one. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;”

Its binary thinking to believe Congress cannot ask questions about someone's religious beliefs. Especially when those beliefs relate to constitutional and legal rights of other people.

I think the phrase "politicians have weaponized religion for their own selfish gain" pretty much defines religion since its inception.

Tulsi, this is all informative to hear & we appreciate your skill in writing it, but it's time to call out, by name, those who are front & center regarding religious bigotry: @KamalaHarris, @SenFeinstein, @maziehirono If you are serious about a Prez run, take a stand now.

If commenters are not aware, underlying this are questions submitted by Senators Hirono, Harris, Feinsten and others to Brian Buescher for his response. They should be read before coming to conclusions solely based on the column. https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Buescher%20Responses%20to%20QFRs.pdf …

I agree. Yet lawmakers' concerns over Brian Buescher's membership in the Knights of Columbus is a legitimate one. KoC have an interesting history in our country, like putting "In God We Trust" on our money & "under God" in our Pledge; both against Seperation of Church & State.
