If the US expects other countries to denuclearize, it should lead by example and denuclearize too. I applaud the Koreas for working toward diplomacy.
Even as we honor those whose lives were lost in the Korean War here today, we are reminded that that war never ended. We must put politics aside and unite in support of diplomacy and peace, to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and finally end the Korean War.

You need to reverse those phrases. Step 1: Sign a peace treaty with the DPRK (and get rid of sanctions). Step 2: Denuclearization will follow once step 1 is accomplished. Ask yourself a simple question: WHY won't the US sign a peace treaty?

The US cannot stand up against the dastardly regimes like North Korea if it does not occupy the moral high ground in geopolitics. For decades, the US has been seen as the defender of democracy and anti-colonialism. We cannot sacrifice our ethics at the doorstep of self-interest.
