It's too late for the State Legislature to call a special session to override the Governor's veto. The people of Hawaii are forced to wait another year for the possibility of relief. Gov Ige's veto will undoubtedly lead to more opioid-related addiction & death in our state.
Yet another reason I'm supporting @ColleenHanabusa for Governor. Hawaii needs bold leadership at the helm of our state. Colleen is a co-sponsor of my bill HR1227 to end the Federal Marijuana Prohibition. As Governor, she would've signed this bill into law.

Medical? How about...recreational sales. Based on evidence of the other states, It’ll take away the illegal sales on the street, lower DUI rates, violence and best of all provide extra revenue to support the state. Ya know.... like teachers etc.
You're correct to criticize Ige for vetoing this bill. You're wrong to support a corporatist stooge for governor just because she happens to be on the correct side of this one issue. Ige is on the correct side of some issues as well. Both are bad for Hawai'i.
