.@GovHawaii vetoed SB2407 which would've allowed Hawaii patients to use medical marijuana to treat opioid addiction - a shocking decision given there are 191 drug-related deaths per year and almost 500,000 active opioid prescriptions in Hawai'i.http://m.hawaiinewsnow.com/hawaiinewsnow/db_352775/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=gn06QRe8 …

It's too late for the State Legislature to call a special session to override the Governor's veto. The people of Hawaii are forced to wait another year for the possibility of relief. Gov Ige's veto will undoubtedly lead to more opioid-related addiction & death in our state.

Yet another reason I'm supporting @ColleenHanabusa for Governor. Hawaii needs bold leadership at the helm of our state. Colleen is a co-sponsor of my bill HR1227 to end the Federal Marijuana Prohibition. As Governor, she would've signed this bill into law.

I agree it’s light years better for chronic pain than opioids. Problem is that it is still a horrendously powerful mind altering drug. Those same states have terrible increases in traffic fatalities. DUI. Etc. I sure don’t know what the answer is. I have chronic pain too.

But I prefer physical therapy, Heat/cold, hot tub. Walk...walk....walk some more! I don’t like turning my brain off.
