Trump’s “travel ban” is supposedly for our national security. However it doesn’t do anything to make us safer because it’s not based on a legitimate threat analysis - it is instead completely arbitrary and useless.

Agree, Trump’s travel ban is arbitrary, does not include Saudi Arabia either. Policy should be based on facts/data. That’s also true of H-1b visa scheme. Your staffers have it wrong again. The countries mentioned have little to no tracking of individuals identities, making it incredibly hard to prevent bad people from entering our country. If they improve their processes/vetting internally they might be removed from the list.
