"I attended #MarchForTheOcean today because water is life. Growing up in Hawaiʻi we have a unique appreciation for why we must protect our resources—from our mountains all the way to our oceans. We have a responsibility to take care of our home."

"The greatest threat to our oceans is if we fail to act on climate change. Ocean temperatures are rising, pollution riddles our waters, coral reefs are dying off and marine life are being killed. I introduced the OFF Act to stop fossil fuels from polluting our oceans."

Question: Do you think it is too late to save our oceans?

“It’s not too late, but we can’t wait for the tide to change. Actions we take every day affect the air we breathe, food we eat, water we drink, and the land and oceans all around us. The people at today's #MarchForTheOcean understand this and are speaking up.”

Question: What is the role of Congress in protecting our oceans?

"Protecting our water is not a partisan political issue. It is vitally important to all people and living beings everywhere. Water is life—we can’t survive without it. Congress needs to work together to pass legislation to protect our oceans."
