Why not simply make it easier to vote? Automatic registration at 18, more polling places, larger staff. How about voting online? Somehow American Idol can do it but the United States government can't. Please try to move the process at least into the 19th century if not this one.

We should. I support automatic registration, open primaries, and more resources to secure our elections. Some may disagree, but there's more at stake in secure, accurate vote tallies for our elections than on American Idol - online voting cyber-vulnerabilities is still an issue.

How about election day as a holiday ?? That's a green party idea
-
If we make election day another paid holiday people see it as a chance to go fishing and they don't want to disrupt their new holiday with going to the polls. Make 100% mail-in ballots.

Australia fines their citizens if they don’t vote. You don’t have to cast your vote for a candidate but you have to show up and participate. Add this to bill.

Don't ask why, say why. Economic elites like weekday voting because it limits the workers ability to vote

Unfortunately many people need to work 6-7 days a week bc pay is so low or working multiple jobs, or taking care of kids as a single mom. A mandatory voting holiday would help.

For the love of God, really? You can vote absentee, or at the Board of Elections at lunch. That's a load of shit to say it's hard to vote during the amount of time given. Amish people manage to crawl into wooden buggies, in the face of crappy Cleveland weather to vote.

That’s cool in theory but so many people still work on weekends, especially those working minimum wage/hourly. Why not propose legislation for either a)paid mandatory holiday for elections or b)postage paid mail-in voting like we have in WA.

This won't help retail or most service workers at all though.

Here in Ohio, with early voting, we basically have a month to cast our ballots. I never vote on Election Day anymore.

Because the established political elites don't want people to vote. The less the better. It's easier to control. It should be a national holiday. It's ridiculous that it's not.

Polling places are open crazy hours. Mail in ballots are available. There is no excuse for not voting. Plus, it is your right. Your employers cannot fire you for exercising that right.
-
They most certainly can fire you in a "right to work" state. Employer just needs to say it wasn't working out, not to mention good luck affording representation without a job, should you sue for unfair firing.
