What kind of test equipment, why, and why replace after 1M cycles?
ATE (automated test equipment) aka chip testers. after 1M cycles the resistance starts to go up and the measurements are no longer repeatable. they're typically used on the "load board" which is a custom PCB unique to each chip, tying the SMUs (source measure units) to the pins.
Be careful! Some of the bigger older mercury wetted ones are PRESSURIZED and will indeed explode if the glass is breached!
