Virtually all of us have benefited from our mother’s affection at the start of our lives. When someone is on their deathbed, if he or she is surrounded by loved ones they can pass away peacefully. From birth to death we all need affection.

Firebug Lite works okay via a Shortcut. A bit easier than setting up a bookmarklet too (and you can actually read the source). Would be cool to see something that’s touch-optimized though.

Add in-place ‘View Source’ to MobileSafari with Shortcuts’ new JavaScript support. Some smart web dev could use this to add a beautiful source view with syntax highlighting and the ability to switch between live page and source. I am not a smart web dev 😛

"A real possibility": When you ask people to translate this phrase into numerical probabilities, the distribution of answers is close to a uniform distribution from 10% to 90%. Only use it if you WANT to communicate nothing.

15 years ago, macOS was at version 10.1. It had no Time Machine, no Spotlight, no Spaces, no State Restoration, no Autosave & no iCloud. Sherlock was the place to find stuff and Internet Explorer was the default browser. Safari 1.0 was still in beta. iPods had Firewire cables…

You want to know something about how bullshit insane our brains are? OK, so there's a physical problem with our eyes: We move them in short fast bursts called "saccades", right? very quick, synchronized movements. The only problem is: they go all blurry and useless during this

It gets oddly easier to do good private epistemology as public epistemology gets worse. They're no longer trying to fake your passwords.

API developers: Don’t underestimate the value of a clear transition path for incompatible changes on big codebases. The ability to write only new code against the new API without yet having to touch existing code means deprecated code will stop being written.

Great new study about science outreach via Twitter: Initially, scientists mostly tweet to each other. But after accumulating about 1000 followers, scientists reach an increasing number of journalists, policy makers, and other members of the public.

    1) Gather around – it’s time for a thread - on the Mayak Reprocessing Plant. Some of this I only learned about a few days ago, but is a big deal at IRSN (French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety), where I’m currently working.

I took a $0.65 red laser module and soldered it across the S/PDIF output. No driver. Nothing. It works. There is so much wrong with this I don't even know where to start. This isn't supposed to work! 6MHz on a $0.65 laser pointer?! Thank you China for not adding decoupling caps.
