The Marvel people really like making characters Jewish (because they were jewish, more props to them) in that kind of Rocky III, "Oh yeah, Mickey, 'the Mighty Mick'? He was totally Jewish and his last name is Goldmill" kind of way.

This wouldn't be the Marvel people, though, this would be Mexican creators in the late seventies

It's possible this is an art swipe though (as I understand it a lot of these covers feature traced art, however I have no idea what issue it'd be taken from for Jewish Gwen)

I guess that it could be a totally different Jewish lady from, like, a romance comic or something, but it's still weird in the sense that the artist stealing the art would be like "okay, and we'll keep the massive Magen David in her hair"

Her being Jewish wouldn't actually make this not weird

Was Gwen Stacy ever canonically confirmed as Jewish?

No, MJ has a couple times but Gwen Stacy usually doesn't even READ Jewish, whatsoever

She looks waspy as fuuuuuck in all her incarnations. I still dig Spider-Verse implicitly confirmed Peter B's Jewish heritage. It felt like a proper nod to his creators and the Jewish legacy of superhero comics.

The group I saw it with got in a debate over whether it's good Jewish rep to have the explicitly Jewish Peter be the fucked up self hating loser and his implicitly Gentile counterpart to be a perfect badass I pointed out that this actually makes him the "real" Peter Parker tho

Peter A had to die, he can't be allowed to go on existing Peter Parker isn't allowed to be successful and happy, that's bullshit

Peter's happiness is inversely proportional to the safety of the entire universe. If Reed Richards ever figures this out, I guarantee there's going to be an Omelas situation within the year.
