Smart ass. 😜😀 My phone autocorrects apple to Apple. It bugs me so I always switch it, even when the capitalization is correct.

I'm a complete autocorrect luddite of the highest order. I'd jailbreak a phone just to get rid of it if I had to.

In all seriousness, I get the impression that most of the algorithms they're running for this stuff range from "shit" to "absolutely terrible" to "very good, but not in ways that help the user experience".

I’m sure the electron pits have been dug dry in this topic long ago, but I wonder how hard it would be to make an auto correct that actually worked.

Extremely. I don't pretend to be an educated linguist just because I work as one, but I think we understand language so poorly we can't even model it correctly.
So it's pretty difficult to teach a machine to do that.
That said, I think you'll see us get pretty close very soon.
