So it's pretty well-accepted that raising kids in a fucked-up social environment causes a lot of issues for said kids
But I wonder if so many of the old people are going totally bonkers because their frames have all collapsed and they're too old to learn new ones.

If you combine the two (see: post-Soviet countries, the US, Israel and other countries shaped by major conflicts in the past and social upheaval now), you get old people in power who see the world entirely through a post-traumatic lens and are either ineffectual or dangerous.

And those people are propped up by the masses of traumatized powerless who feel similarly.
