What is your favorite ‘clockless clock’, or way of marking time that is neither a clock (Ie artificial device specifically designed to tell time) nor a standard astronomical calendar cycle (days/week’s/month’s/seasons)? (examples: breath, trains passing by, Apple product days)

General level of visible activity (human and non-human), distribution and pattern of sounds (cars, birdsong, shouting, whatever).

I'd say lighting, too, but I'm from northern Norway so 80% of the year this is about as accurate as "it's after lunch," or "it's probably night, because the sunlight is a bit reddish."
