is that why you're all alcoholics?
is booze your Nordic ayahuasca?
Conversation
Don't say that to anyone in Northern Norway if you have a dear relationship with your face. It's a good way to get in trouble.
History: Norwegians seeded booze as a way to control Sami communities. With no cultural awareness of booze, so half the men became drunkards overnight.

Not that I know why you'd ever find yourself in Northern Norway, mind.

A few weeks ago I drove a couple of ladies from Norway who lived on Bjornoya.

I mean, it's technically Norway.
It's also halfway to Iceland.

They spoke Norwegian. They were good passengers. We had a good vibe going in the car.

Svalbard is where rich people go to dodge tax payments. It's also pretty cool, from what I've heard.
Not meant in a terrible pun kind of way.
Also the only place in Norway you can buy beer for less than a dollar.

Sound like a good way to get filthy rich and be insanely bored (unless you like arctic nature - I mean, I probably wouldn't mind.)

They didn’t seem filthy rich, but they did suggest there’s a boredom issue there.

Yeah, well, when everybody is rich nobody is rich.
If they had money, they'd consider it very rude to flaunt it.
The main Norwegian way to be culturally insensitive seems to be to act terribly surprised that in other countries, shit sometimes sucks.
And to act *very* upset about this basic fact of being for most people.
So, cooler than the trustifarians from the States that I don’t enjoy having aboard.

Even lower middle class Americans (and Polish people, as it's a thing here as well) frequently make me want to punch them in the face.
No consideration for *anyone* who seems like they might possibly be lower in the pecking order.
