Across every domain, it's a very easy mistake to make to assume you come at a discussion from a similar angle as your opponent. You don't.

Different angles generate different fundamentals & conclusions. There is plenty of room to make value judgements on which are more important...
(But people don't think that way.)

Assume you share values, your model is bad.
Assume you share presumptions, your model is bad.
Assume you share conclusions, your model is bad.

It really doesn't help that people are still convinced that they, individually, have True Arguments to make, based on Truth.
