Well the booze certainly is!!!! A shot of Absolut vodka at this hotel bar is just 2€ versus, wait for it, 6 € at the same hotel chain in Paris!!

Long as you're careful. ;) Spanish culture is very high-context. They aren't always *being* friendly just because they appear to be.

Oh I know they have mostly been tipped employees and my kids only speak American English.....I have spent all but a few years of my life in “occupied Mexico”, as it were, and worked in Mexico proper, so I have at least a mild clue 😂

I figured - it's just the sort of thing you'll want to warn Anglos/Scandinavians about, just in case... I also enjoy it a lot. It's really refreshing when people don't parade their feelings to your face all the time.
