"Reason, science, etc." are generally good things, though by no means do they encompass all worthy human endeavors, and this guy wrote a stupid and facile book in their defense, who cares, let's get on with our lives... but no, let's all die on his hill.

I retweeted a couple of takes on why he is a con man and huckster and left it at that.
Have been sorely tempted to say more, but fuck that guy.

Usually my policy is to block an annoyance that shows up in my mentions (not the people tweeting/retweeting, but the source account).
Bit difficult when it's all over the place, though. I don't block people for having one or two annoying pet topics.

Agreed. Its just that this cycle keeps happening over and over again in the media. I wish I could block the whole social dynamic without just jumping off the internet entirely. I usually ignore it, but then I get *the urge* to comment, and I wish I wouldn't...

That sounds bothersome. To be fair, I also have that.
Mostly, though, I've resigned myself to many people being wrong (& stubborn) to bother trying.
I only engage people in discussion now if I see any chance whatsoever of getting a point across, which is rare. Elsewise, I blog.
