Possibly one of the reasons vinyl is coming back.
The format that was on the way out in my childhood in the 70s. (But even tapes didn't sound quite as good, and we knew it.)

People not wanting to pay for quality over availability is more or less how it got so bad that vinyl started to recover, mind you.
I'm not technically adept enough to understand how well lossless digital formats do, but that is probably the eventual way forward - if not just yet

I understand there's a warmth to vinyl that even lossless digital doesn't get.
But I expect you're right. MP3s and so on were created back before broadband. Using them now is silly, though partially because US internet (and Canadian and some others) is still crap.
