Agreed. It's an effect whether it's predicated on illusion/distortion or not. It's absurd how many expensive "treatments" exist that do nothing placebo doesn't do, but are touted as "scientific" in some way while placebo is not.

Honestly I lean towards a solipsistic view of reality, sorry ;) 'Receiving' transmission, like any phenomenal activity is entirely subjective & of the nature of pure appearance, no other, only Self. So in all cases call it what u will. On this basis is any sensory input placebo?

Yeah, well, hopefully someone else has more interesting opinions than me. I only categorically refuse to believe what I'm told, and doubt most of the things I "believe" about reality as well, so I rarely bring much to the table when it strays into this territory. :P
