Regarding the location of the mind, many Buddhist teachings say its headquarters is in the heart and its activity center is in the brain. In that way, our heart is like the White House and the brain is like the Capitol or the Pentagon.

Can be useful for those who tend to get ‘stuck in their head’ - great phrase.
Whether scientifically accurate or not, I think that many people need to be told to include the sensation of their body.
Heart is one of the more accessible ‘centres’ for people to notice.

The "brain" conceit can be quite a barrier. A friend of mine calls that "getting brained": in other word you can be captured by an idea that you can locate thoughts in a concept you have of something you picture as "the brain".

I feel like that's exactly right. Further, opinion:
Thoughts don't always occur "in" the head. Their sensory correlates definitely don't.
Trying to map them artificially to various nodes in the body begets willful distortion.
The body doesn't need mapping. It *is* a map.
