Well, academic writing is its own bag of worms. It was more of a casual complaint than anything else.
Good prose writers who also know their topics are disappointingly rare. :(
("Good" being here an entirely subjective marker for the sort of writing I like, as there is much craft in soul-sucking academic presentation and *extremely marketing voice* business book storytelling alike - just, not craft I typically enjoy.)
