My experience of "everyday life" has become so much more intense since all the meditation last year. I had to stop drinking alcohol because it felt too much for my mind. The things that most people accept as normal seem ridiculous now.

Alcohol is a funny example. I find I now enjoy drinking a lot more, but in smaller doses. The buzz is captivating. Cigarettes, OTOH, are too disgusting now to even contemplate.

I once had a meditation teacher guide me through two different drinking practices. Some people find this abhorrent, but this lesson continues to be surprisingly helpful in many domains.
